WHITELAND, Ind. – For the fifth consecutive year, the Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation (CPCSC) has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from the National Association for Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.
Now in its 25th year, the Best Communities for Music Education designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate outstanding achievement in providing music access and education to all students.
“I am excited to announce that CPCSC is one of only 17 school districts in the State of Indiana named a NAMM Best Communities for Music Education, stated Whiteland Band Director, Peter Sampson. “Congratulations to the music teachers, students, and our school administration.”
Research into music education continues to demonstrate educational/cognitive and social skill benefits for children who make music. After two years of music education, researchers found that participants showed better speech and reading scores than their less-involved peers. Students involved in music are more likely to graduate high school and attend college.
