SOUTH-CENTRAL Ind. – The wait is finally over. After months of preparations, south-central Indiana has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors to their communities for the Total Solar Eclipse this afternoon.
Most cities and towns in the area, including Columbus, Franklin, Seymour, Greenwood, North Vernon, Edinburgh, Shelbyville, Nashville, and Greensburg, have planned festivals or other events to entertain citizens and guests.
A large portion of central and southern Indiana is in the path of totality for the Solar Eclipse for approximately four minutes just after 3 p.m. The exact time it begins and ends depends on the city or town you are in.
Skygazers can expect the full eclipse to last two-and-one-half hours, from about 1:50 to 4:20 p.m.
Use special “eclipse glasses” or handheld solar viewers to view the phenomenon safely. You risk serious eye injury if you don’t utilize this protection.
