INDIANAPOLIS, Ind – The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) announced reclassification results on Tuesday, April 2. This follows the announcement of school enrollments that the IHSAA released earlier this year.
The reclassification announcement will only affect four-class sports (baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball).
The reclassification plan places the largest 20% of schools in Class 4A, the next 25% in Class 3A, the next 25% in 2A, and the smallest 30% in Class 1A. Since 1997-98, the rule has required distributing schools equally (25% each) among the four classes.
Area schools changing classes are as follows:
- Hauser – From Class 2A to 1A in boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, and volleyball
- Jennings County – From Class 4A to 3A in boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, and volleyball
- Brownstown Central – From Class 2A to 3A in boys’ basketball (Tournament Success Factor)
- Brown County – From Class 3A to 2A in boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, and volleyball
- North Decatur – From Class 2A to 1A in boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, and volleyball
- Greenwood Community – From Class 4A to 3A in boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball, and volleyball
Sectional groupings for these sports will be released later this spring. Baseball and softball reclassification results will be announced later this year, with sectional groupings for these two sports being finalized in August.
