Horror isn't a genre frequented by the "faith film" industry, even though mainstream horror flicks regularly have various religious symbolism. Awakened is an effort to wade just a little into that genre's waters for a faith-based film.
Calling this film horror is more than a bit of a stretch. Supernatural thriller may be more accurate. Regardless, there are some legitimately unsettling moments in this, even if actual scares are absent. Unfortunately, there were noticeable issues with the lighting that took me out of the viewing experience at times.
