GREENWOOD, Ind. – The City of Greenwood is grateful to Duke Energy for its recent $33,000 donation to the Greenwood Fire Department GFD). With this funding, the agency has been able to purchase new rope rescue equipment, significantly enhancing its ability to respond to technical rescues.
“With this support from Duke Energy, GFD will be better equipped to handle a variety of technical rescues. This funding will no doubt have a significant impact on the safety and well-being of our city workers, citizens, and visitors of Greenwood,” said Fire Chief Jayme Washel.
The Greenwood Fire Department has 73 full-time employees and 16 part-timers. GFD protects a 25-square-mile response area in Johnson County, with a permanent resident population of over 50,000.
