FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin Community High School varsity baseball team defeated the Greenwood Woodmen to win the Mid-State Championship on Thursday, May 15.
After trailing by one run, the GrizzlyCubs rallied to defeat Greenwood 5-2 in game 1.
In Game 2 of the doubleheader, Franklin secured an 11-3 victory over the Woodmen to clinch the Mid-State Championship.
Pitcher Greyson Betts notched the win by throwing the first six innings of the game. He surrendered two runs on three hits and two walks. Nash Netter was 2-for-4 with his third home run of the season, Blake Smythe went 2-for-3, and Brady Ghent had three hits in three plate appearances.
This was Franklin’s first Mid-State Championship since 2021. The Grizzly Cubs have two games remaining against Decatur.
