EDINBURGH, Ind. – The Edinburgh Police Department responded to a report of a person being shot in a vehicle in the 1100 block of East Main Cross Street on Saturday morning at around 2:30 a.m.
When they arrived, officers found an 18-year-old male suffering from a gunshot to the head. The man was transported to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, where he was treated for his injury. He has since been released. The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.
Preliminary information is that the victim was attending a party in the Edinburgh area when a fight broke out. The victim got into his car to leave and avoid the altercation when he was shot while driving his car away from the residence.
No other persons were injured, and the suspects fled the area.
