SEYMOUR, Ind. – A man has been apprehended following an incident in which he entered a public library and discharged a firearm.
As reported by the Indiana State Police, the shooting occurred at the Jackson County Public Library, 303 W. Second St, in Seymour around noon on Wednesday.
According to ISP, the individual entered the library and fired at least one shot using a long gun. The library director recounted hearing a noise and rushing to the scene, initially believing a display case had fallen, only to discover a man armed with a gun.
Authorities stated that the suspect then ascended to the second floor, where a library patron subdued the gunman and restrained him until law enforcement arrived.
Officials reported that there were no gunshot victims; however, an individual sustained injuries from broken glass.
Seymour Police officers promptly apprehended the shooter, and the entire event lasted approximately two minutes from beginning to end.
