COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Fire Department (CFD) was called to the scene of a warehouse fire early Thursday morning at 3450 Scott Drive, off Indianapolis Road behind the FedEx Ship Center.
Firefighters arrived at around 5:45 a.m. and saw flames coming through the roof of the building. Due to the amount of fire within the interior, structural compromise caused by flames, and building construction material, crews had to operate in a defensive position from the exterior of the building.
Although the fire was under control, CFD was still operating at the blaze site at 9:30 as firefighters continued to address pockets of fire and smoldering materials.
