NORTH VERNON, Ind. — The North Vernon City Council convened for the first time in 2025 on Monday, January 13.
The first order of business was to determine a new Council president. Jack Kelley was nominated and elected for this role. Former Council president Baron Wilder was selected as Vice-President.
Mayor Shawn Gerkin noted that he would not change any of his appointments.
One of his appointees is his assistant, Tara Thormin, who works with the Jennings County Animal Control. Thormin addressed the Council with updates regarding the animal shelter. Click here for more details.
The Council approved the update of the city district lines on Monday. Below is an image of the updated map. Mayor Gerkin noted that the changes were minor.
