HENRYVILLE, Ind. – A road rage incident along Interstate 65 in Clark County, just south of Henryville, turned violent on Friday afternoon.
The initial investigation by the Indiana State Police Sellersburg Post indicates that just after 2 p.m., a minivan and a Bronco sideswiped each other while traveling north on I-65 near mile marker 16 (Memphis exit).
While continuing north, the vehicles were said to be slowing down and accelerating while the drivers made gestures and motions at each other. Both vehicles stopped on the northbound ramp at Exit 19 (Henryville).
The two drivers and a passenger in the minivan exited. The Bronco driver allegedly fired shots at the minivan operator, who then left the scene and stopped at the Circle K gas station in Henryville.
The driver of the Bronco was on State Police 911 during the entire confrontation and remained at the scene when troopers arrived. That driver was detained and interviewed by investigators at the Sellersburg Post.
The minivan driver was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital by EMS for treatment of gunshot wounds.
This remains an active investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
