NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) Deputy Chris Amis was traveling south early Friday morning on State Road 3, near County Road 300S, when he came upon a car that had been involved in a serious accident.
The vehicle was on its top, the roof was caved in, and smoke was coming from it.
Deputy Amis found a female entrapped inside the car and used his flashlight to bust out the driver’s side window to pull the woman through to safety. She was transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
During the incident, Deputy Amis suffered a serious cut to his wrist, which required several stitches at the St. Vincent Jennings Emergency Room.
JCSO thanked Amis for his quick action and the hospital staff for taking care of the Deputy.
