Encyclopedia Brittanica defines a novelty song as a popular tune distinguished by its unique or unconventional elements, which set it apart from standard musical offerings.
Christmas music, in particular, is ripe with examples of such music. From all of the character-driven songs, "I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas" or "The Chipmunk Song," a good chunk of holiday classics would fall into the novelty category.
