INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced this week that the September unemployment rates for Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, and Jennings counties were steady compared to August.
For Bartholomew County, the September rate was 3.8%, up slightly from August’s 3.7%. The county reported 42,806 employed residents out of a 44,478-person labor force.
Johnson County’s September rate was 3.5%, the same as the August. Employed workers totaled 87,471 from a possible 80,638.
The Jennings County rate for September was 4.0%, unchanged from August. There were 13,461 workers out of a possible 14,024.
Jackson County recorded a 3.5% September unemployment rate, below the 3.6% rate registered last month. The county reported 22,486 employed residents out of a 23,311-person labor force.
Indiana DWD officials announced earlier this week that the overall Hoosier unemployment rate for September was 4.3%, a slight increase from 4.2% in August.
