SEYMOUR, Ind. – Thursday was a big day for the Seymour Fire Department. It was announced that the City of Seymour was chosen to be one of the final four locations to have a state-of-the-art training tower to be built at the fire department’s training ground.
This training tower will be funded by the Department of Indiana Homeland Security and will not just benefit the Seymour Fire Department but will be available for all of Jackson County Fire Departments.
The training tower will allow firefighters to train on technical rescue skills, search and rescue, live fire drills, and many other opportunities we have never had before.
State Fire Marshal Steve Jones and Indiana Department of Corrections leadership broke ground on the latest training site during a ceremony in Plainfield on Thursday, and the next phase of the Hub-and-Spoke Training plan was announced. In addition to Seymour, new training facilities will be built in Vincennes, Covington, and Winchester.
