SEYMOUR, Ind. – Seymour Police Department (SPD) patrol and interdiction officers responded late Monday night to an apartment in the 200 block of Marley Lane to follow up on drug tips and conduct a stop-and-knock investigation.
When they arrived, they spoke with Brooklyn Maxie, 30, of Seymour. A 12-year-old juvenile was also present.
Maxie allegedly admitted to having marijuana inside the residence and granted consent for police to go in to retrieve it. However, she then rescinded her consent, and the investigation was immediately paused.
Officers applied for and were granted a Jackson County Circuit Court warrant for the dwelling. Once the warrant was obtained, SPD searched the apartment and supposedly located evidence that included methamphetamine, cocaine, scale(s), baggies, marijuana, and other drug-related items.
As a result of the investigation, Maxie was arrested for Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Meth, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Neglect of a Dependent.
The Department of Child Services was contacted.
All parties depicted or described are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
