COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) responded to the 100 block of Schaefer Court South in Hope in regards to a stabbing on Tuesday, at around 10:30 p.m. Eric Douglas, 42, of Hope, had been stabbed multiple times during a domestic disturbance.
It is alleged that a minor physical confrontation occurred between Douglas and another resident. During this altercation, another resident, a juvenile male, reportedly stabbed Douglas in the back several times.
The victim was transported by helicopter to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for treatment.
The juvenile suspect was arrested on the charge of battery causing serious bodily injury and taken to the Bartholomew County Youth Services Center where he remains in custody. The juvenile’s identity will not be released at this time.
This is a preliminary BCSO investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
