COLUMBUS, Ind.– The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team recently closed out a methamphetamine distribution case in Bartholomew County that resulted in two people in jail for felony charges.
JNET had been looking into information that Jami Martin, 67, had been dealing methamphetamine from his home in the 5100 block of W Ohio Ridge Road in Columbus. Through their investigations, enough evidence was gathered to arrest Martin for dealing methamphetamine as a level 2 felony.
Law enforcement officers stopped Martin, who was driving a vehicle near US-31 and I65. They arrested Martin and located suspected methamphetamine in his pocket. Martin’s passenger, Michelle Jessie, 50 of Columbus, was also arrested after suspected marijuana was found and suspected methamphetamine was found when they searched her at the jail.
After Martin was arrested, JNET investigators served a search warrant at his house and more suspected methamphetamine and marijuana were found.
Martin was arrested and formally charged with:
• Dealing methamphetamine, a level 2 felony
• Possession of methamphetamine, a level 6 felony
• Dealing marijuana, a level 6 felony
• Possession of marijuana, a B misdemeanor
• Possession of paraphernalia, a C misdemeanor
Jessie was arrested and formally charged with:
• Possession of methamphetamine, a level 5 felony
• Possession of paraphernalia, a C misdemeanor
Both remain in the Bartholomew County Jail.
