GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Greenwood Police Department (GPD) is now accepting applications for the 2025 Citizens Police Academy through July 18. The Academy is limited to 20 individuals.
The weekly sessions will run on Tuesday evening from August 12 to October 28. The three-hour classes are from 6 to 9 p.m.
The purpose of the academy is to provide participants with an opportunity to better understand the role of police officers and, more specifically, to strengthen the relationship between the officers of the Greenwood Police Department and the community.

There are several requirements for the GPD Citizen Police Academy. Participants must:
- Be a resident of the City of Greenwood
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have no criminal history (background check will be performed)
- Be willing to sign waivers of required liability
