BARGERSVILLE, Ind. – In November 2023, Bargersville town officials and Johnson County community leaders broke ground to build Umbarger Plaza. It was completed late last year.
The official Umbarger Plaza dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Thursday, June 12.
The town converted an empty downtown lot into a public greenspace to serve as a central gathering place for community events. It features an amphitheater and on-site restroom facilities.
The Bargersville free summer concert series is at the plaza this year. Area residents are invited to come to Umbarger Plaza this summer for a concert, a movie, yoga, and more.
The space, at 118 North Baldwin St., was formerly used by the Umbarger family for their feed production company.
The cost of the Umbarger Plaza project was approximately $2 million.
