COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Sheriff Chris Lane has declared his candidacy for re-election.
“Serving as your Sheriff has been the honor of my career,” said Sheriff Lane. “Over the past two years, we’ve made great strides in making our county safer, enhancing law enforcement initiatives, and building stronger relationships with the community. But there is still work to be done.”
During his tenure, Sheriff Lane has prioritized community policing, advanced technology and training for deputies, and implemented initiatives to combat drug-related crimes and mental health crises. His administration has also focused on transparency and accountability, ensuring that the Sheriff’s Office operates with the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
Sheriff Lane moved to Bartholomew County in 1991, where he began his career in law enforcement.
He says he is grateful for the community’s trust and looks forward to earning its support again.
Looking ahead, Sheriff Lane states his campaign will emphasize:
- Public Safety First (Continue efforts to reduce crime and improve emergency response times)
- Community Engagement (Expand programs that foster trust between BCSO and residents)
- Drug Epidemic Fight (Strengthen partnerships to combat substance abuse and provide recovery resources)
- Training and Resources Enhancement (Ensure deputies have the tools/education needed to serve effectively)
- Protecting the rights of all citizens
