NORTH VERNON, Ind. – While patrolling the city of North Vernon on Monday evening, a Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputy conducted a traffic stop after observing a violation.
As the officer was talking with the driver, Erica Mullikin of North Vernon, he said he could see drug paraphernalia in plain view and became suspicious of illegal drug activity.
The deputy deployed his K-9 partner Brock to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The police dog gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle.
JCSO conducted a probable cause search of the car and allegedly found a container with Fentanyl and other drug-related items. Authorities said the Fentanyl seized was enough to kill 750 Jennings County residents.
Mullikin was taken into custody and transported to the Jennings County Jail, where she was remanded to Jail Staff. The suspect was charged with Possession of a Narcotic Drug (Level 6 felony) and Possession of Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor),
