SEYMOUR, Ind. – On Thursday, October 17, a mother advised the Seymour Police Department (SPD) that her daughter had allegedly been sexually assaulted. SPD detectives followed up and conducted interviews.
The following day, investigators arrested Mark A. Ballinas, 25, of Clayton, North Carolina for rape (level 3 felony) and sexual misconduct with a minor (level 5 felony).
Ballinas was taken to Jackson County Jail and remanded into the custody of the jail division.
All charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
