FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin Chamber Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Greater Franklin Chamber of Commerce, recently announced two recipients of the inaugural young entrepreneur grant program. Each will receive $500 to continue their projects.
The grants are intended to assist with start-up or capacity-building expenses, enabling young entrepreneurs to develop their business concepts and gain valuable experience in entrepreneurship.
Connor Baldwin, 16, created Baldwin Baits because of his passion for fishing. He accepts custom orders tailored to location and conditions, recently making custom-themed baits for the Purdue and IU fishing teams. Connor sells his product online, at local farmers’ markets, and at Honey Creek Tackle in Bargersville. He said he would use the grant funds to purchase a new mold and supplies.
Hattie Lou Blooms, 11, started a cut flower business about a year ago. Hattie’s cheerful and bright flower bouquets can be purchased at local farmers’ markets or ordered on her website. She plans to use her grant funds to establish perennial plugs to plant at Needham Elementary’s Kindness Garden in the early spring of 2025. Hattie donates 20% of her proceeds back to local organizations.
