COLUMBUS, Ind. – Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon swore in Matthew Kieper as the Columbus Police Department’s (CPD) newest police officer on Monday morning at Columbus City Hall.
Kieper graduated from Faith Academy of Bellville in Texas, where he obtained his high school diploma. After high school, Kieper joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for four years.
He continued his public service at the College Station Police Department as a police officer, and then at the U.S Secret Service where he was a uniformed officer protecting the White House.
Kieper will undergo two weeks of training with CPD instructors before hitting the streets and starting his field training.
