GREENSBURG, Ind. – The Greensburg Fire Department announced promotions, the recipients of the Life Saving Award, and the Firefighter of the Year at its 2024 Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday.
Lt. Ron Reynolds was promoted to Assistant Chief, and firefighters Caleb Stevens, Trent Campbell, Walker Gabbard, John Hammersmith, Ethan Ripberger, and Ethan Steele were advanced from probationary firefighters to First Class firefighters.
The Assistant Chief promotion goes into effect in 2025. All other promotions are effective on the firefighters’ first-anniversary date.
Reynolds was also named the Firefighter of the Year. This award is given to a firefighter the department nominates as a team member who demonstrates leadership and mentorship.
Hammersmith, Stevens, Jarrod Prentice, and Reynolds were all presented with the Life Saving Award. This is given to a firefighter who works an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest with a successful outcome.
Greensburg Mayor Joshua Marsh said, “These men have dedicated their lives to saving others and keeping our community safe, and I am proud to continue supporting their good work. Congratulations to all who received an award and those promoted within the department.”
