NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) arrested 64-year-old Douglas Cherry of North Vernon for Felony Child Solicitation, in December 2022.
Cherry had online sexual conversations with what he believed to be a 13-year-old female from North Vernon. After only one month of online correspondence, Cherry drove to a Jennings County residence to have a sexual encounter with the supposed teenager. However, when he arrived, he was met with several JCSO deputies.
The predator was arrested and transported to the Jennings County Jail.
Two days ago, on Tuesday, April 16, a jury convicted Cherry on the highest charge of Child Solicitation (Level 4 Felony). Sentencing will come at a later date.
