COLUMBUS, Ind. – A local man is in custody for warrants and drug-related charges following a foot pursuit.
A Columbus Police Department (CPD) officer saw Calvin Dampier, 36, of Columbus, in the 2200 block of Wallace Avenue on Friday at around 5 p.m. Police tried to detain Dampier for his Bartholomew County arrest warrants but CPD says the suspect resisted and took off running.
The man was quickly apprehended in the 2200 block of Ohio Avenue. During a search of his clothing, officers allegedly located suspected methamphetamine and a syringe.
Dampier was arrested for his two Bartholomew County warrants and the new preliminary charges of possession of meth (level 6 felony), possession of a syringe (level 6 felony), and resisting law enforcement (misdemeanor).
