COLUMBUS, Ind. – Your last chance to witness a total solar eclipse in the United States for at least 20 years is next month – are you prepared for the experience? YES Cinema is hosting two free special events for the upcoming eclipse entitled, “Here Comes the Moon: An Eclipse Guide in Totality.”
Maria Schwartzman Webb will share a multi-media presentation spanning eclipse basics to advanced topics. She will give insights into what to expect and pay attention to during the eclipse, how to watch and photograph it without hurting your eyes, and why eclipses have captivated humanity for thousands of years.
Identical presentations will be held on Friday, April 5, at 4 p.m. and Saturday, April 6, at 10:30 a.m., at YES Cinema, 328 Jackson Street. Admission is free and the sessions are appropriate for most ages and knowledge levels. Concessions, including specialty eclipse-themed items, beer, and wine will be available for purchase.
Schwartzman Webb was raised in Columbus and graduated from Columbus East in 2006, DePauw University in 2010, and George Washington University in 2013. She now teaches computer science at DePauw and is a photographer specializing in landscape, nightscape, and travel photography.
Maria has personally witnessed one total solar eclipse (2017), one partial solar annular eclipse (2023), and three lunar eclipses (total in 2019 and 2022, partial in 2021).
