The Christian band Skillet is starting to win over some mainstream music fans. An article by the Associated Press says a new set of mainstream music lovers are starting to get to know the band that has been around since the mid 90s and has consistently won over Christian rock fans. In fact, the group is scheduled to join the secular group Nickelback in Europe this month. Lead singer John Cooper said he thinks their new fans appreciate the fact that they stand for something, that they’re real about it, and not embarrassed about it.

Natalie Grant has completed five days of filming in her game show debut. The Christian artist is the host for a new show on GSN called It Takes a Church. She’s been filming the series all week.

Steven Curtis Chapman is out on his Glorious Unfolding tour. And during their Texas run he was giving a cowboy hat. Fellow tour member Jason Gray tweeted “you can take the man out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the man.”

The members of Citizenway made their first trip as a band outside the USA this week. The group was in Canada for a concert on Thursday.

Hawk Nelson, The Afters, and Finding Favour were grounded this week after their tour bus broke down. So what do the members of three Christian contemporary groups do when the have some down time? Hawk Nelson lead singer JOn Steingard tweeted that they formed a barbershop quartet.

Jenny Simmons will be leading worship all weekend for 700 women. But she says she’s being forced to live it out herself leading up to the event. She tweeted that the electricity in their house went out so they headed out to dinner. Then on the way to the restaurant their car died.

Mandisa will be singing the national anthem for the NFL game between the 49ers & Texans this Sunday evening. And she tweeted “Whose Life Is This?”

Steven Curtis Chapman’s new CD The Glorious Unfolding released this week. And Steven sat down to talk about the first release from the new CD Love Take Me Over. He says the new album, and this song in particular, has a sense of the joy coming back more fully into his music. Tai Anderson is making good use of Advil. The Third Day Guitarist participated in his first Crossfit workout this week and tweeted that he could barely get out of bed the day after. But he said he pushed through and made it to day two.

Ben McDonald had a unique view during his run this week. The Sidewalk Prophet’s guitarist says his ten mile run took him over the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

Josh Wilson did two things yesterday. He wrote music and went mountain biking. This morning Josh tweeted: One didn’t hurt at all. The other will hurt for days to come.

Christian artist and author Andrew Peterson turned to kickstarter to raise the money for his final novel in the Wingfather saga. The final book in the series is titled the Warden and the Wolf King and, just days into the campaign, Andrews has already exceeded his goal of $14,000 and several additional goals as well. In fact, the kickstarter stands at more than $43,000 with 28 days left to go. The final book in the series is scheduled for release in 2014.

I knew addiction was a struggle in many families, I just had no idea how many of you it has affected.

Matt Redman’s new CD Your Grace Finds Me is giving the worship leader the best Street Week of his Career. The live worship CD debuted at number one on this weeks Soundscan Christian Albums Chart. Amy Grant knows firsthand the complex and emotional decisions facing today’s baby boomers. Mark Lee has released another blog, this time talking about being powerful and effective. In the blog The member of Third Day talks about all the things he’s wanted to do but was never able to do. But he wrapped up the blog by reminding readers that while we’ll never be powerful or effective enough to make it on our own, through prayer power and effectiveness happens in bigger and better ways than we could ever imagine.

From Jason Roy, lead singer of Building 429, says they’re still amazed at what God has done. The group has gone from their early transportation using a van and a trailer to 2 buses and an 18 wheeler.

Chris Huffman says their son Silas is improving slowly. But the bass player for Casting Crowns adds that everyday is a waiting game and prayer is still needed. It has been just about a month since Silas was rushed to the hospital and Chris left the band to return home and be with his son.

Mike Donehey recent shared some thoughts on connecting with Jesus. The lead singer of Tenth Avenue North wrote: “One of the most beneficial practices for me has been pretending Jesus is just sitting next to me in the car. Turning the radio off, looking over, and imagining Him just looking back at me, changes the way I pray. It reminds me not to sugar coat things. It reminds me to be completely honest about my struggles, and what’s frustrating me. After all, He can take it. And I know He isn’t surprised cause He knows it all anyway.”

Natalie Grant was at the GSN network over the weekend to film the pilot for her new TV show. Natalie will host the show titled IT TAKES A CHURCH. Past activities have included zip-lining and horseback riding. And this year Mandisa says she’s celebrating by going to Catalyst. The gathering of young leaders meets every year and Mandisa says there no better was for this “21-again girl” to spend her birthday.

Michael W. Smith and Billy Graham have been friends for about 30 years. And that friendship is continuing. Michael wrote a song for Mr. Graham’s national crusade this November. Natalie Grant is in one of those times when merging life as a Christian artist and a mom becomes very difficult. Natalie was on the road this weekend when her youngest daughter Sadie had to be taken to the Emergency Room after falling on her head. Natalie said Sadie able to return home after her visit to the ER but she was going to have to wear a neck brace for a few days. Natalie said she was thankful that it wasn’t worse.

An open letter from Jamie Grace to her future husband: Please don’t bring me flowers and chocolate. Pizza and wings will do just fine.

A fan recently let Jonny Diaz know via twitter that his song More Beautiful You was being played in Dollar General. Jonny replied: “What a coincidence. You can get it on iTunes for a buck!”

It looks like for King and Country are finally getting back on their feet after dealing with a series of health issues. Late last week the group announced that Luke was returning after a 10 week hiatus due to a digestive disorder. And over the weekend Joel said his wife, Moriah was finally able to come home after spending nearly a week in the hospital fighting a virus. However, the members of for King and Country say your continued prayers are still needed as both Luke and Moriah continue their recovery.

Jimmy Needham will be trying something new in 2014. The Christian artist says he just ordered his first electric guitar. He said he’s excited to try something new live and on his new 2014 record.

TobyMac’s song “Steal My Show” from the album Eye On It has been included on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Grace Unplugged. The film hits theaters on October 4 and includes appearances by Jamie Grace and Chris Tomlin.

Thinking that listening to Christian music on Pandora is making helping to fund the ministry of Christian artists? Newsboys member Jeff Frankenstein tweeted recently that songs he’s written were streamed more than a half million times on the music source. And he said his quarterly payment was $3.79. In reply, Building 429 member Jesse Garcia replied: “ made more than I did last year.”

Jason Roy had some word robe problems over the weekend while performing in front of 12,000 people. The lead singer of Building 429 tweeted a picture of his pants after a show over the weekend. The entire back seam had split wide open. Members of the band say the accident triggered a rare jam session while Jason made a hasty exit to find a new pair of pants. And they don’t seem to have much sympathy. Aaron Branch described it as a Hilarious story that they’ll definitely tell quite a bit in the future. However, fans say Jason did a good job of covering it up. In response to the picture of the split pants after the show one fan tweeted: “we were wondering where you went”. Another said “I was there…never would have known that happened if you didn’t share it with everyone!!”

Amy Grant was with her husband Vince Gill in Virginia over the weekend. They were part of the dedication of the new Presidential Library in Mount Vernon. And Amy tweeted that she was honored to be included in the event.

David Blascoe says their concert over the weekend was officially classified as a success. The member of Citizenway said the group opened for Chris Tomlin, the Newsboys, and Building 429 and they got to ride roller coasters.

Third Day guitarist Mark Lee says he’s getting the groups manager a globe for Christmas. He started shopping for globes after their manager scheduled them for a concert along the great lakes followed the next day by a concert in Texas. He tweeted that it was a very long drive.

Jamie Grace it taking auditions. The Christian artist announced this week that she’ll be auditioning possible candidates for a band at the Kingdom City Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia. They’ll take place at 9:00am ET on Tuesday, October 1.

Third Day recently performed at Greg Laurie’s Harvest Crusade in Southern California. Officials from Moriah Peters record label are asking that you keep the Christian artist in your prayers. While on tour with the Newsboys last Friday Moriah went to a hospital feeling weak, dizzy and nauseous. Officials say she spent two days there and then was able to get home on Tuesday. At that point she was admitted to Vanderbilt. The doctors have run many tests with no exact diagnosis; all they know is that she has some kind of strange virus. They said it’s probably from her recent travels in South America. Officials say Moriah is improving slowly but thoughts and prayers are still appreciate.

Jason Gray took time to enjoy a cup of his favorite coffee this week. The Christian artist hasn’t been able to have any caffeine for a couple of months due to his vocal issues so he says he’s due.

Casting Crowns this week released another individual song, this time titled All You’ve Ever Wanted. And the song has already reached the number one spot on at least one chart, jumping over songs from Mandisa, Mercyme, Matt Redman, and Matthew West.

Laura Story is touring with Steven Curtis Chapman’s Glorious Unfolding tour this fall. But for the Christian artist, the tour got off to a rough start. Just 30 minutes after reporting for bus call this week she realized that she’d forgotten her tooth brush. Less then 45 minutes later her young daughter threw up in her bunk on the bus. The health issues for the group for King and Country are continuing. Joel tweeted over the weekend that, the same night his brother Luke rejoined the band, Joel took his wife to the ER with symptoms of an unknown virus. Luke had been away from the band for much of the summer due to illness.

Big changes are coming to Family Force Five. Members of the band announced today that Solomon will be coming off the road and fellow member Jacob will be transition into the position of lead singer. They say Solomon will remain within arms reach, as he takes time to be at home with his wife and son, while also pursuing his creative ambitions of co-writing and remixing. Mandisa says she’s looking forward to continuing the Brandisa tour with Brandon Heath next month. The Christian artist emphasized again that the two are not dating but she said they have a blast in concert together. She said she can’t wait to hit the road again.

The members of the Sidewalk Prophets were on stage with some of their heroes over the weekend. The members of the band tweeted that they were on stage singing with Sandi Patty and the Gaithers as part of the Homeward Bound Homecoming series. And they said it was an unbelievable experience.

The members of Jars of Clay reported millions of little stow aways on their bus over the weekend. They tweeted that they had an ant infestation but added that they were grateful the ants weren’t the biting kind.

The members of Mikeschair were serving at the Nashville Rescue Mission over the weekend. In addition to putting on a concert for those at the rescue mission they also spend some time helping out in the kitchen. Tai Anderson is encouraging the fans of Third Day to support another project he’s been involved with. The group is called Cheer Christians, made up of a community of professional Christian cheerleaders living out Christ in their lives. Christian artists Mark Schultz, Francesca Battistelli and Phil Wickham were serving in their home community of Nashville this week. The three spent a night serving at the Hope Clinic, an organization that helps equip women, men, and families to make healthy choices when dealing with unplanned pregnancy’s.

Kevin and Malerie Huguley are celebrating today. The Rush of Fools member and his wife announced this week that their daughter Gia is now officially a Huguley. They say Gia’s adoption was finalized this week.

A further report from Building 429 and Hawk Nelson regarding the storm that hit their concert site earlier this week. They sent pictures of their crew using hair dryers to dry out their equipment and say that the crew and the band got a little wet but it was nothing a towel couldn’t fix. But members of Building 429 say they had to replace all of their TV’s and lights as well as other equipment. However, they say the show must go on. The members of Building 429 are continuing on with their tour, kicking off the United We Stand tour this weekend.

The Newsboys’ new album Restart released last week, debuting at number 1 on the Billboard Christian Albums Chart. The album is also at number 1 on the iTunes Christian and Gospel Albums chart.

Chris Tomlin is just a couple weeks away from launching the second leg of the Burning Lights Tour. The fall leg will kick off in Oklahoma City and Chris says they’re praying God uses it to show thousands His great love. Tomlin’s spring run of the Burning Light’s tour was the most successful tour of his 13 year career. It saw a 53% increase in average show attendance and sold out 25 of the shows

Amy Grant will be performing this weekend before the Tennessee Titans game. The Titans will be taking on the Chargers this Sunday but team officials are encouraging their fans to get to the game early to enjoy the concert with Amy Grant.
