Mandisa’s song “Overcomer” is once again featured on ABC’s Good Morning America, this time in a new series. In August, Good Morning American had Mandisa on to perform the song, and they also showed the song’s music video. This week, GMA launched their “Overcomers” Series with co-host Robin Roberts using both the song and its title in its national TV and web spots. In the series, viewers are asked to share their story with Roberts, telling about a dream they fulfilled with the chance for their story to be shared with America on Good Morning America.

Congratulations to James Mead. The Kutless guitarist it recently went back to college at Grand Canyon University and he just found out that he was placed on the President’s List this semester for having a GPA of 4.0.

Integrity is launching a brand new web site called We Are Worship. The new, international site is for worship leaders and musicians, songwriters and everyday worshippers. It’s designed to unite and inspire, to bring together the global worshipping community to serve God better. The UK has announced plans for a modern slavery bill which should be published in draft form later this year to be introduced in 2014. Worship leader Matt Redman tweeted information about the new plans late last week. Both Matt and his wife Beth are passionate supporters of efforts to end slavery in that country and around the world. They are part of the A21 campaign which is working on a similar effort.

MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard is asking the groups fans to support another Christian artist. DJ Official is the DJ for the band Lecrae. He has been fighting a rare form of cancer for the last three years and has just found out that he will be undergoing a bone marrow transplant in 2 weeks. In the meantime Christian artist like MercyMe are joining together to raise $20,000 to help DJ official and his family with their expenses during the treatment. Tai Anderson was hoping to make it home for his sons football game over the weekend. But he needed a private jet to make it from the Third Day concert in Arkansas to his home in Atlanta. So he made an offer he hoped Arkansas Third Day fan’s couldn’t refuse. He offer to trade a free t-shirt for a private jet to fly home to Atlanta. No word on if anyone took him up on the offer.

The daughter of Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman is making a name for herself as a gymnast. But her mom Mary Beth Chapman tweeted this week that Stevie Joy’s success in the sports has taken quite a bit of effort. She said her daughter spends at least 16 hours every week in the gym. Mary Beth added: I wouldn’t trade helping her with her dream in a million years.

Natalie Grant was looking forward to a little time at home this weekend after a very busy CD release week. Her CD Hurricane came out on Tuesday, October 15. And Natalie was in nine states promoting the release in the eight days around the albums debut. Going into the weekend she tweeted that she was exhausted but grateful that she’d been able to share her new music and tell the stories behind the songs. Brandon Heath’s Christmas album came out last Tuesday. But due to his policy not to play Christmas music until after Thanksgiving, he’s doing his best not to talk about it. In fact, he’s started a petition to require that all Christmas promotion must wait until after Thanksgiving. He’s also making it his mission to expose Christmas violations in stores across the nation. In fact, Brandon posted several violations on his twitter page over the weekend.

Christian artists are sometimes given windows into people’s lives that make all the touring and days away from their families worthwhile. Building 429 received one of those bits of encouragement recently. After a stop they were tweeted by a girl who had attended their concert. She said “thank you for an amazing night and for making me three weeks clean from self harm”.

Matt Redman says that the most beautiful thing about grace is that it always finds us where we are. Natalie Grant missed out on her first Dove awards in a decade last night. She tweeted that it was the first time she hadn’t performed during Christian music’s biggest awards show in seven years. Natalie was in New York City promoting the release of her latest CD Hurricane. The CD release and the Dove’s just happened to occur on the same day.

Tenth Avenue North’s Mike Donehey sat out the Dove Awards this year, opting to instead spend time at home with his new baby daughter. While there Mike tweeted “We give awards for career, not care-giving”. He says he has to continually remind himself that success may stroke his ego, but serving changes his heart. Mike said he’s really glad their new baby has given him the chance to slow down, to breathe, and remember how toxic the idol of ambition can be.

Matt Redman will be in London today to welcome a special team of cyclists. The Worship leader is hoping to encourage the team of riders participating in the A21 Campaign’s Freedom Challenge. The riders left Sofia, Bulgaria on October 6 and are arriving in London today. The goal is to raise awareness of the young women and children being forced into slavery and to raise $210,000 for shelters and victim assistance programs.

Laura Story is doing more than just ministering on the road during her concerts. The Christian artist will be reaching out to ladies at her local church by helping to lead a newcomers Bible study on who the Bible says Jesus is.

After several months in a rental home, Mercyme guitarist Mike Scheuchzer is finally in their new home. Paul Baloche will release his new Christmas CD at the end of this month. And the Worship leader says his goal for the project was to take classic Christmas carols that we all enjoy singing and combine them with modern worship choruses to encourage worship all through the Christmas season.

Jamie-Grace is asking for your help in expanding the ministry of her family in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Jamie says the church is planted in an area where divorce, high school drop out and teen pregnancy rates are high. And the funds donated will help them impact the youth in their community. The members of the Sidewalk Prophets were answering questions on twitter recently. When they were asked “what do you want your legacy to be?” they unanimously said it’s to “love people and let Jesus move through our lives and gifts”. However they didn’t agree quite so closely when it came to their favorite vacation spot. Ben McDonald said his was Montana. But fellow guitarist Shaun Tomzak said he’d rather spend his time away on a quiet beach with his family.

The Gospel Music Trust Fund’s Family Reunion was held in Nashville over the weekend. The one night event was held at Amy Grant’s Farm and was hosted by Bill Gaither, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Brandon Heath, and Toby Mac. The money raised will help those in need due to severe or terminal illness, health emergencies, or catastrophes.

The latest CD from Laura Story is called God of Every Story. And while talking with CBN Music Laura says she has begun to write from a deeper, more vulnerable place. She says she was originally nervous about how being so vulnerable would translate. But Laura says she’s found that there are literally millions of people out there that feel the exact same way. The life of Christian artist often involves waking up in a different city each morning. And sometimes all the travel can get a little confusing. Hawk Nelson”s Jon Steingard tweeted this past weekend: I know I’m in the northeast. But I legitimately do not know what state I’m in right now.

Jamie Grace will be headlining a special fund raiser at the end of the month. Jamie Grace and friends will be raising money for 412 Youth Ministries at the First Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia. Jamie served in the program full time for three years before her touring schedule really took off.

Paul Baloche’s Christmas Worship CD will be coming out later this month. And the worship leader is also preparing a series of tutorials to help you play the songs in your church. He said he was in his living room recording the guitar tutorials over the weekend. And even though it was still October, the living room was fully decorated for Christmas, complete with a tree, a fire in the fire place, and stocking hung on the mantal.

The Sidewalk Prophets had a little extra adventure over the weekend. They tweeted that the front passenger window just got sucked out of their bus by the wind. They added that “at least it’s a sunny day!”

Sometimes making it to the show is more difficult than others. Britt Nicole said she’d been traveling since 5:30am but their flights had been delayed and canceled. She said they’d finally been able to make it to the venue but their luggage didn’t. She says they made a quick target run before heading to the show.

Band members get some unique requests. The members of Building 429 say that one young man recently offered his pants to guitarist Jesse Garcia in exachange for one of his guitars. They say the offer was declined.

Hawk Nelson is down to one state. Lead singer Jon Steingard says the group played in Rhode Island for the first time over weekend. He says they’ve now played in 49 states, leaving Hawaii as the only state the group has never preformed in.

Release week started early for Natalie Grant. Her new CD Hurricane comes out on Tuesday. But she left over the weekend for 10 straight days of travel. She says prayers for health and strength would be appreciated.

Matthew West was at the Kansas City Chiefs game on Sunday to sing the National Anthem. Matthew says the day also included the lagest fly over ever with 49 planes taking part.

Mandisa says her concert with Brandon Heath in Louisville over the weekend was memorable for several reasons. The first was that the air conditioning in the sanctuary broke and it was “about 200 degrees”. Then someone missed their entrance for the rap part in her song Good Morning so she ended up doing it on her own. Mandisa says she’s not mentioning any names but it rhymed with Grandon Sheath.

James Mead says Kutless played in Paris over the weekend. However, he added that it was Perris, California.

Francesca Battistelli performed the National Anthem at Charolotte Motor Speedway over the weekend just prior to the NASCAR Bank of America 500. She also took part in a chapel for the drivers.

Matt Maher says he’s dealing with a new normal. His daughter was born this past weekend and, since first child was a son, he says it’s a little different to be surrounded by pink. Meanwhile, Matt’s son seems to be adapting well to the newest member of the Maher family. Matt tweeted a picture of his son singing to their new baby daughter.

Mike Donehey is celebrating the birth of his daughter. The lead singer of Tenth Avenue North tweeted that June Marie was born on her great grandmothers birthday.

Mandisa sang the National anthem at the 49ers-Texans game this past Sunday, helping the NFL kick off breast cancer awareness month. But her makeup and clothing seems to be getting the most attention. After getting numerous requests, Mandisa says the shirt she wore while singing will be available soon in her on-line store. She also tweeted the information about her eye shadow after many women wanted to know. She says it was a mixture of Reflects Pearl and Fucshia.

Michael W. Smith hosted a fundraiser for Rocketown yesterday. The building founded in 1994 by Michael serves as a safe place for youth in Nashville, offering hope to the next generation through Christ’s love. And Michael is thanking everyone who helped make this weeks fundraiser very successful.

The group Downhere announced their retirement in 2012 and disbanded in January 2013. But their record company has now announced plans for a new CD. Love & History: The Best Of Downhere is scheduled to be released on October 15. It will include the groups Christmas classic How Many Kings as well as several other songs but it will only be available in Canada and online at the bands store.

Jenny Simmons had a unique idea for getting back into her house after locking her self out on Monday. She tweeted: Dear Past Criminals in Nashville- I will make you cookies an give you my kids pumpkin if you please come over and pick the lock to my house. The members of the Passion 268 Generation announced this week that the band Hillsong United will join them for Passion 2014 in Atlanta and Houston. Passion also includes Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Christy Nockels, Christian Stanfill, and more.

Newsong is planning a unique Christmas concert in late November. The band says their Christmas concert with The Sidewalk Prophets, Audio Adrenaline, Jason Castro, and Love and the Outcome will be held on November 30 in Tyler, Texas. And they say it will be a pay what you can event. Admission is $15 but members of the band say that, if you don’t have that, pay what you can.

Matt Redman will be kicking off his God’s Great Dance Floor Europe Worship tour with former Dilerious? lead singer Martin Smith this Wednesday. The tour will visit the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Paris, Holland, and the UK.

After nine days in the hospital, Christian artist Moriah Peters has finally rejoined the Newsboys Restart tour. Just days into the tour Moriah had to be hospitalized. Doctors identified the cause as a rare virus picked up while she was performing in South America.

Making it to their first concert outside the USA wasn’t easy but the guys from Citizenway made it. The members of the band tweeted that they spent 27 hours in a van as they made their way to New Brunswick, Canada.

Mandisa joined the NFL and the Grand Ole Opry as they kicked off their breast Cancer Awareness month efforts.
