The members of Casting Crowns this week released an update on Silas, infant son of their bass player Chris. Members of the band said Silas is doing great but prayers are still needed. They say he had a stroke last Tuesday and that has left him very week on his left side. It’s been a little over a week since a new heart was transplanted into his body. A long term magazine focused on Christian artists will be back in print next year. CCM Magazine was converted to a digital only format in 2008. But recently they started a kickstarter program in hopes of any offering a print version of the magazine. Over the weekend it was announced that the $40,000 goal had been reached. The first new print edition of the CCM Magazine will be a 35th Anniversary Tribute edition.

NEEDTOBREATHE has released a short teaser for a documentary that was filmed on the band’s The Reckoning Tour. While there hasn’t been much other information released yet about the project, the trailer hints at the band’s response to original drummer Joe Stillwell leaving the band, which happened in 2012, as well as being an overall inside look into the band members’ lives. The members of Colony House, formerly called Caleb, have re-invented themselves with a new name, new approach, and now a brand new EP featuring three tracks of fresh material to announce themselves. Colony House includes the two sons of Steven Curtis Chapman and one of their friends. They got their name from an apartment complex in downtown Franklin that has at some point in each of their lives been called home by all three members. Chris Huffman says his son Silas continues to recover well from his heart transplant on Sunday. The Casting Crowns bass player tweeted that Silas is already off the tube and breathing on his own. He added that he’s completely amazed that they’re standing on the other side of a heart transplant. Silas is just over six months old.

The members of Big Daddy Weave are welcoming the newest Weaver into the world. They announced over the weekend that Jay, their drummer, and his wife Emily are proud parents of a brand new baby boy named Nathan.

Shane and Shane have announced a new partnership to minister in the African country of Rwanda. The new partnership is called [RE]Wanda. Amy Grant says she has one solitary Christmas tradition. Amy tweeted over the weekend that, at least one night after everybody is asleep, she will turn off all the lights, light a fire, get her guitar and just sing. Amy says: It’s my way of remembering the reason for the season.

The icy conditions in Texas caused major problems for several Christian artists. The members of the Story Tour, including Natalie Grant, Casting Crowns, Selah, and more, spent six hours at a complete standstill just north of Dallas. They finally made it to Houston after canceling their concert in the Dallas area. Their trucks, crew, and instruments didn’t make it but members of tour say the concert went on as scheduled using borrowed equipment. Meanwhile, Francesca Battistelli tweeted over the weekend that they finally made it to Dallas through all the ice only to get stuck trying to get up the hill to the venue. The Jars of Clay concert in Texas over the weekend was canceled due to the weather. And Matthew West tweeted that, after 18 hours on the road, they finally stopped at a hotel in Oklahoma.

Mercyme was helping Dr. David Jeremiah launch his new study Bible late last week in New York’s Madison Square Garden. And they say they had an unexpected guest in the front row. Members of Mercyme tweeted that Donald Trump was there for the study Bible unveiling.

Meredith Andrews was in Pittsburgh over the weekend. She was working alongside Feed the Children at a local food pantry in that community.

Tobymac’s Hits Deep tour was in New York City over the weekend for a concert at Madison Square Garden. And Jamie Grace tweeted that New York is kind of intimidating, especially around the holidays. Jamie says she learned a lot about the city. Some of her new insights included:
1. People love getting engaged at the ice skating rink…
2. You may see a wedding in grand central station… an actual wedding…
3. You’re not supposed to ask which pizza place is the best…

The Passion268 Atlanta conference is officially sold out. Officials announced this week that all the tickets for the college focused conference scheduled for January have been sold. But they say there is still plenty of room for those who would like to attend the second conference in Houston in February. Last year more than 60,000 college students attended the conference in Atlanta. The Passion organization includes worship leaders like Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, and Kristian Stanfill. Jenny Simmons has completed work on her first book. She announced that, as of 1:47 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, the book was done. The book is titled The Road to Becoming. And the next step is to get it published. Jenny said earlier that she plans to use kickstarter to fund its publishing.

Matthew West was filming his first fan video this week. He invited his fans to take their lunch break early on Thursday and join him in recording the video. Matthew utilized the services of the first 30 fans in line for the project.

Kerrie Roberts is back in the studio. She says she’ll have new music available at the beginning of the new year.

Big Daddy Weave and for King and Country kicked off their Christmas tour this week. But members of the band didn’t start off on stage. The first stop for the tour was the Greensboro Urban Ministry. Mike Weave and Luke Smallbone spent time handing out food boxes for the ministry.

Steven Curtis Chapman recently wrapped up the fall leg of the Glorious Unfolding Tour. The tour that featured special guests Laura Story and Jason Gray sold out 17 shows. But if you missed out Steven has good news. He’s already gearing up for the spring leg of the tour named after his latest CD. And this week he announced that he’ll be touring with The Afters and Josh Wilson during the tours spring run.

The group Mikeschair is headlining their first Christmas tour this month. They say the tour didn’t get off to a great start this week. The band’s trailer lost a wheel on the way to their first show. But the members of Mikeschair say the Lord provided in incredible ways!! Thanks to the generosity of their fans, they went from having a broken trailer missing a wheel to having a brand new trailer. The Mikeschair Christmas tour is scheduled to make 10 stops this month before wrapping up on December 22.

The Rhett Walker Band was struggling to update their passports this week. And it sounds like it wasn’t going very well. Members of the band tweeted: It’s harder to get out of this country than it is to get in it.

This week marks the “real” opening of Christmas season for Brandon Heath. Brandon’s first Christmas album, Christmas Is Here, came out in late October. But since its release he’s been pounding the message that Christmas music and displays should be reserved for after Thanksgiving, reaching more than 5.8 million fans. This week Brandon finally announced that it’s officially the Christmas season and time to start listening to Christmas music and decorating for the holiday.

Switchfoot will release their debut feature film, Fading West, across many Video On Demand platforms on December 10. In addition, fans can request screenings of the film in a number of markets around the country. Fading West follows Switchfoot as they travel the globe in search of new musical inspiration and perfect waves. And to celebrate the release of the film, the band will perform its song, “Who We Are,” on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on December 10.

Good news from Natalie Grant. She’d mentioned in November that their families 23 year old nanny had been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. This week Natalie followed up with the news that the doctors say they got all the cancer when they removed the tumor and she is cancer free.
