It was an up and down weekend for Francesca Battistelli. She was fighting illness all weekend while also trying to keep up with her touring schedule. And then she left her laptop in their rental carr. But the weekend ended on an up note. Francesca tweeted that Enterprise had found her laptop and it was being returned. Mark Schultz announced recently that he’s working on a new Hymns record. He said he’s having an absolute blast with the new project. Mark tweeted that it should be ready in 6 to 8 weeks.

Paul Baloche released several new albums in 2013, including both a French language and a Christmas project. But Integrity just announced that another Paul Baloche album is already in the works. They said they can’t announce anything more than that yet, but encouraged fans of the worship leader to keep their eyes open for more details soon.

Officials representing Michael W. Smith say a lot of new music will be coming from the long time Christian artist this year. They say “: Tons of work is happening. Buckle up – You’re going to be hearing from Michael a lot this year!”

The Passion Conference took place over the weekend with more than 20,000 college students from 1,200 universities and 33 countries in attendance. It was the first of two major conferences put on by Passion. The second is scheduled for next month in Houston. The conference wrapped up Saturday night but the worship continued. The members of the Sidewalk Prophets described the weekend as “unbelievable”. It started when they arrived at their concert venue and were given the keys to a Maserati to drive as needed. That high turned into a low when their bus broke down. While their bus and driver stayed behind at the shop the members of the band rented two minivans and drove 10 hours home. Band members say prayer is still needed. Bubba, their bus, will be in Maryland for a few days waiting for the transmission to be disassembled and repaired.

How dedicated are the Winter Jam fans? Just ask Colton Dixon. He tweeted this weekend: Just saw people waiting outside in 19 degree weather for Winterjam. You guys are awesome and crazy

Aaron Shust was struggling to reach is concert venue in Omaha over the weekend. He had to replace his first rental car due to bad tires. The tires on the second car were fine but it was 19 degrees outside and Aaron says the car didn’t have any heat. Aaron said they finally made it to their venue after driving the final hour in their third vehicle. He said this one had heat. Granted the entire back panel fell off in his hand when he shut the hatch, but it did have heat!

Building 429 was playing in a different type of venue over the weekend. They played for the Memphis Grizzlies Faith and Family Night.

Jars of Clay kicked off their celebration of 20 years of ministry over the weekend. They announced earlier this year that they’d be looking back at a different years during their concerts in 2014. And this weekend Jars of Clay started with a look at their first concert in 1994. Pillar announced in October of 2012 that they were reuniting the classic Fireproof and The Reckoning-era band lineup to create an all-new studio album. However, 2013 came and went and all that was released was a Christmas cover song. Now Pillar members say things are moving forward. Band members announced late last week that they have finally debuted a brand new Kickstarter campaign to fund the record. The projected release time is August of this year. The members of the Passion organization will be wrapping up a busy weekend with the recording of a live Passion Album. The Passion 2014 conference for college age students will be held on Friday and Saturday of this week. Switchfoot postponed its hometown album release show scheduled for yesterday, January 15, after frontman Jon Foreman was injured in a surfing accident. The rock band had originally planned to celebrate the release of its new record, “Fading West,” with a concert in San Diego, California on Wednesday. However, Foreman sustained a wound to his face while surfing this past Monday, requiring a few days’ rest before returning to the stage. The concert has been rescheduled for Feb. 3. The line up for the Son Of God Tour was announced this week. It will include Francesca Battistelli, Sidewalk Prophets, Natalie Grant, Chris August, Meredith Andrews, and Jason Gray. The tour is described as: An immersive music and visual experience celebrating the life of Christ.

Third day has added something new to their tour. But it’s not something you’ll see on stage. Tai Anderson recently tweeted that he’s excited to now have a juicer on the bus. He tweeted a picture of the items he was recently juicing. They include carrots, celery, apples, mango, a beet and ginger.

Matt Maher will be joining March for Life at a pre-rally event on the National Mall this month. Integrity Worship Drummer Carl Albrecht is recovering after recently suffering a heart attack. The drummer who has played for a long list of worship leaders says he got help early and doctors say there was no perminent damage. Carl did say that doctors put two stents in his heart but he says all is good now and he’s already been allowed to return home.

Hawk Nelson’s collaboration with Bart Millard on the song “Words” has earned the group Song Of The Year honors from Australia’s national Christian music airplay chart. The Australian duo for KING & COUNTRY was named Artist Of the Year on the same chart. Winners were announced this week.

Jamie-Grace is out with her first blog. She said her sister Morgan convinced her to start blogging so, while she says it’s nothing official, her first blog is now online. Natalie Grant talked this week about the new GSN show she’s hosting. The Sidewalk Prophets say an old friend made a guest appearance at their 2014 Sidewalk Prophets planning summit. Vango, the van that carried the guys through their early years of touring, showed up at the summit. The band members tweeted: she’s beat up but still rolling.

Josh Wilson has just added a new stop to his touring schedule. He tweeted this week that he’s just found out that he’ll be playing at the Grand Ole Opery on February 7.

The members of MIKESCHAIR made it official this week. They announced that they’ll be touring with Aaron Shust in March and April. Also on the tour will be Jonny Diaz and former American Idol contestant Lauren Daigle.

Kristian Stanfill says the entire staff is working hard this week as they gear up for Passion 2014. He tweeted that rehearsals are going strong and the new songs are coming together. Kristian and the fellow Passion artists will be leading worship in front of a sold out crowd of college students at this weekends event in Atlanta. Last year more than 60,000 college students attended the event.

Matt Maher was one of several artists participating in a Grammy nomination party over the weekend. Also in attendance were members of Building 429 and Tobymac. The grammy’s will be announced on Sunday, September 26. Mandisa is the top Christian nominee with three nominations. Natalie Grant, Matt Maher, and Chris Tomlin each were nominated twice. And Steven Curtis Chapman, Tobymac, Building 429, and Matt Redman each came away with one nomination.

Casting Crowns bass player Chris Huffman says this will be a big week. His son Silas begins physical therapy for his transplanted heart and Casting Crowns will be practicing for their upcoming Thrive tour. And to top it all off, Chris says his in-laws visiting as well.

Louie Giglio and the rest of the members of Passion are gearing up for this weekends Passion conference for college age students. He sent a tweet to the thousands of college students who will be attending, reminding them that God is making a way for them, they are being prayed for, and expectations are high. Passion 268 will be held in Atlanta January 17 and 18. A second conferences is scheduled in Houston in mid February.

An admonition from Matthew West: Be deliberate about clearing away distractions. He added: I know what mine are, you know yours. Push them aside and choose time with God today. Tiffany Lee didn’t walk away totally unscathed when she fell of the stage during Winterjam over the weekend. Althought she jumped right back up and finished her set, the artist who goes by the stage name of Plumb tweeted that she was headed to the chiropractor on her day off. The Sidewalk Prophets will perform at the Orlando Magic’s Faith and Family Night on the final day of January. They’ll head up a post game concert on January 31 following Orlando’s game with the Milwaukee Bucks. The guys added: If you’re lucky you may see us slam dunk… alright maybe not.

Aaron Shust was having a tough time getting home Sunday. He tweeted that his flight had been postponed for more than four hours. In fact, Aaron added that he could have just rented a car and driven home in the same amount of time. But the good news is that he made it home in time for his youngest son’s second birthday party on Monday.

Jars of Clay is 20 years old. And the band members say they plan to hold a special concert series in celebration of 20 years of music making. Each month of 2014 they will feature two identical StageIt concerts that specifically highlight music from a specific album from their career. The first concert in the series, on January 28th, will focus on the Jars of Clay debut album first released in 1995

Hawk Nelson member Daniel Biro is healing well. The bass player for the group had knee surgery in 2013 to remove two tumors under the bone in his right knee. He tweeted that doctors are impressed with the amount of flexibility and strength he’s regained after the procedure and they say he should be off crutches and walking on his own within a month.

David Crowder is out promoting his new CD at area radio stations. And he tweeted that the key to a good radio promo tour is stopping for those crucial photos. Attached was a picture of Crowder riding a 20 foot tall statue of a rooster.

The Official release date for the new novel from Audio Adrenaline lead singer Kevin Max has been announced. Kevin says his book Fiefdom of Angels Volume 1 will be available January 31. Kevin says the novel is about the origin of angels.

Josh Wilson has been trying to ask three questions before he speaks. Josh says the tree questions are: Is it Good? Is It Kind? and Is It Necessary.

At an age most kids were pedaling bikes, Lincoln Brewster was getting pedals for his guitar. The worship leader well known for his guitar skills recently tweeted a picture of his very first guitar pedal, used to control the tone of his guitar. He says he got it when he was 9 years old.

The Winter Jam tour was recently in Tampa Bay Florida. And while in town Newsboys drummer Duncan Phillips sat down to talk with the Tampa Bay Times about the evolution of Christian music. Duncan talked about everything from the changes he’s seen in Christian music since starting with the Newsboy to crossing over into secular music. Matt Maher and Matthew West will be joining the Hit’s Deep tour when it kicks off it’s spring run in February. TobyMac’s Hits Deep Tour 2014 will make 13 stops between mid February and early March. It will headline Tobymac and, in addition to Matt and Matthew, it will also include Brandon Heath, Mandisa, and Capital Kings.

Natalie Grant’s Dare to Be Events are proving to be very popular. Natalie tweeted that two of the upcoming tour stops are already sold out. She added: Be sure to purchase your ticket to a Dare to Be event quickly!.

Mandisa is encouraging those joining her in memorizing one verse a month throughout 2014 to keep working on the January verse, I John 4:4. She was offering tips for the group she’s calling Word Warriors. Mandisa says she breaks the scripture into sections and focus’ on adding one section at a time, allowing her to really know the verse by the end of the month. Another suggestion from Mandisa is to work on the memorizing the verse every time you hear one of her songs on the radio.

The band VOTA is helping curb human trafficking from Nepal into India through the funding of five border monitoring stations with their “Love Found Me” campaign. The group initiated the campaign in early 2013 in a partnership with Tiny Hands International and Taylor University. And the members of the band announced this week that the “Love Found Me” campaign has surpassed its initial goal of raising $150,000 to fund five monitoring stations for five years. They say the stations will help prevent an estimated 3000 girls from being trafficked between the countries. But they say fund raising efforts will continue even thought the goal has been reached. One week before his second birthday, Aaron Shust says his son Michael took his first step. Aaron says they’re praising the Lord since some had said that Michael would need leg braces if he was ever going to walk. Michael has had major health issues, needing several surgeries just after he was born.

Kutless guitarist James Mead was involved in a dog search and rescue operation earlier this week. He tweeted that he was able to help police rescue a lab named Sampson who had been lost for five days. The lab was discovered trapped under some rocks in a small ravine.

Jenny Simmons recently talked with the magazine Morf about accepting God’s love. She openly shared that she often is her own worst critic, struggling to accept God’s delight and favor. Jamie Grace and her band made an impromptu debut at the church pastored by her parents over the weekend. Jamie announced in 2013 that the band members had been selected but no time schedule for her transition from a solo artist to a band was announced. Although a time frame still isn’t being promoted, it sounds like their work together is progressing. After the impromptu debut Jamie tweeted: yall ain’t ready for this!

Some exciting news from Aaron Shust. He started the week on jury duty, tweeting on Monday: Not how I’d wish to spend my only week home in January. However, by the end of the day Aaron followed up by reporting that none of the days 51 cases had gone to trial. He says that means no more jury duty for the next year.

Rehearsals for The Road Show have begun. Members of Third Day say those taking part in the concert series got together this past weekend to start putting everything together. The Road Show kicks off this weekend in California. It’s the first year that Mercyme won’t be headlining the show. Instead, it will be lead by Third Day and Skillet.

Greg Long says the cold weather engulfing the country is making the upcoming Avalon and friends cruise to Caribbean look really attractive. The Oasis of Worship cruise is scheduled to begin on January 26.
