Mercyme guitarist Mike Scheuchzer has a problem. He tweeted this week: I think I have an infected hangnail. Not a good thing when you make your living playing guitar.

Jamie Grace was recently featured on the 700 Club. Several members of Audio Adrenaline are in Haiti this week. Band members Kevin and Jared tweeted that they are in the country with Food for the Hungry. And both band members had the chance to meet the kids they sponsor through the organization.

Matthew West will be hitting the road soon for his next tour. He’ll be on the “Hello My Name Is” – The Acoustic Tour in March and April. But in the mean time he’ll be joining Tobymac for the Hits Deep Tour. That tour takes place in February and, in addition to Tobymac and Matthew, it also will include Brandon Heath, Mandisa, Matt Maher.

33miles member Jason Barton was up at the crack this week. He was headed to Guatemala for a few days with Feed the Children Organization.

Building 429 member Jason is heading out of the country this week. He’s joining his wife and kids on a mission trip and added “Please keep us in your prayers.”

Joni Eareckson Tada has released an official statement regarding her song Alone Yet Not Alone and the decision to rescind it’s Oscar nomination. Shaun Tomczak and his family could use your prayers. Shaun’s wife Michelle was eight months pregnant when the guitarist for the Sidewalk Prophets announced plans to leave the group to spend more time with his family. But on January 28th Shaun and Michelle’s daughter Lucy Tomczak was stillborn. The members of the Sidewalk Prophets are asking you to pray for the Tomczak’s as they deal with the loss.

Mikeschair lead singer Mike Grayson is trying his hand at teaching. This week he conducted a special session during the chapel time at Belmont University in the Nashville area. Mike sang some of the groups songs and took questions about faith and how it influences art.

The members of Phillips, Craig and Dean are asking for your prayers. The group announced over the weekend that Dan Dean’s father passed away this past week. The 91 years was described as a warrior for our country and a warrior for the Lord. He was wounded three times as a member of the military and also raised 5 boys-all who are in ministry. Some insight from Chris Tomlin on humbling yourself before God: I have found the posture of bowing down to be the best way for me to humble my heart before God. Just try it. Bow to your knees in worship and prayer to God, or even face down, and see if you really think much of yourself. This is why the posture of bowing is so prevalent through the scriptures. It’s a posture of humility.

Mandisa is congratulating all of the Word Warriors who joined her in successfully memorizing 1 John 4:4 in January. Over the weekend she announced the February scripture. It’s Psalm 30:11-12. Mandisa also pointed out that each of the scriptures being memorized during 2014 are based on songs from Overcomer, her latest album. She says you can still join the Word Warriors. Audio Adrenaline lead singer Kevin Max was named the best lead singer over the weekend. The award was part of the We Love Christian Music Award series and Kevin was chosen by fans who voted in late 2013. But officials of the series say it was one of the closest categories of the year. Michael W Smith was recently working on a live recording. And he was recording the live CD/DVD combo in his own barn. He tweeted several pictures of the recording. But no word at this point on when the live project will be available.

Although it’s been talked about for some time, the official announcement about Jason Gray’s new album was made over the weekend. The next album from Jason will be titled Love Will Have The Final Word. It will be available on March 4. Kutless members said that nothing electrical wanted to cooperate at one of their concerts over the weekend. But the band didn’t let that stop them from performing. Kutless instead led the crowd in a night of acoustic worship

The members of Tenth Avenue North were struggling to make it to their concert over the weekend. They tweeted that, after a series of flight delays and other issues, they were finally able to make it to the venue. But their gear wasn’t as fortunate. They say the airline lost it somewhere in transit. So they opted for an impromptu acoustic set. The members of Tenth Avenue North say they’re hoping that the airline can find their gear and send it along in time for their next show.

Natalie Grant was part of the Super Bowl festivities over the weekend. She was one of the artists features in the Gospel music event leading up to the big game in New York.

This weekend the members of Third Day gave their concert series a new name. After facing another weekend of icy road conditions, Tai Anderson renamed it The Roadshow on Ice. Third Day and Skillet are headlining this years Road Show concert series. They say prayers would be appreciated as they travel.

Natalie Grant and Mandisa are setting the record straight after coming under fire for their perceived response to the Grammy’s. Mandisa received two Grammy awards but chose not to attend the event. Natalie Grant was nominted for two Grammys and attended the show but left early. Both sent out posts clarifying the reasons for their actions but several on both sides of the morality still read more into the actions then they say was there. Jamie Grace and her sister Morgan finally made it home after spending more than 24 hours stuck in an airport. Jamie tweeted that they boarded two other planes before finally getting on one that could take them home. She said the 24 hours was full of cancelled flights, delayed flights and standing in the snow. They were especially eager to get home because their mom underwent surgery while they were out of town. The good news is the surgery went well and the sisters finally reached their mom’s bed side.

A bit of trivia about Brandon Heath. The artist that will be joining Tobymac’s Hits Deep tour is a Nashville native. He began writing songs at age 13 and has even been featured on the Discovery Channel.

Three members of Amy Grant’s band have been nominated for awards of their own. Her drummer, keyboard player and bass player have each been nominated for ACM musician of the year for their particular instrument.

The new Casting Crowns‘ CD ‘Thrive’ Debuted on iTunes a day before it’s release elsewhere around the nation. And officials say it opened at the number 2 spot on the web site. But the new CD isn’t the only product available. A new book by Mark Hall, also called Thrive, has been released. And Mark Hall is also out with a personal journal including over 60 pages of song ideas, handwritten notes, song lyrics, and exclusive photos of the band.

Ben Calhoun is almost done recording tracks for an upcoming EP. The member of Citizenway says the project should be ready for release by March.

The guys from Third Day probably had a tough time tearing themselves away from their dressing room long enough to play their set at a recent Road Show event. Their dressing room featured a pool table, fooseball table, and shuffleboard.

Cloverton celebrated Kansas Day by playing a free show in their home state. They held a concert at Pratt Community College the evening of the state’s 153 birthday.

Josh Wilson will soon be able to cross another items off his bucket list. He’ll be playing at the Ryman auditorium in Nashville in February.

Mark Schultz has a lot of things to look forward this spring. Mark announced this week that he and his wife are expecting their second child, another boy, in May. Several Christian have been struggling to deal with wintry weather hitting the south. Third Day guitarist Mark Lee tweeted a series of pictures focused on the gridlock in downtown Atlanta. Fellow Third Day member Mac Powell said it took him 8 hours to take his kids home from school, a drive that normally takes only 15 minutes. And Christy Nockels says it took more than 10 hours for her son to arrive home from school. Meanwhile Mercyme guitarist Mike scheuchzer pointed out that temperatures in Anchorage, Alaska were 25 degrees warmer than temperatures in Nashville.

Jars Of Clay held their first 20th anniversary online concert last night. The band is focusing on their two decades of music in a series of concerts as they celebrate the anniversary throughout 2014. Mandisa is cheering on her fans as the month of January comes to an end. She is memorizing one verse each month during 2014 and has formed a group called Word Warriors to encourage her fans to do the same. Recently Mandisa sent out a tweeted celebrating several fans who had already memorized 1 John 4:4, the verse for this month, and reminding others that there is still time. Natalie Grant is speaking out after being both praised and condemned for leaving the Grammy’s early. The Christian artist tweeted Sunday evening that she was leaving the Grammy’s before the program finished but added that she was going to keep her reasons to herself. Immediately media outlets announced that Natalie was making a statement by walking out when she did. But Natalie issued replied to those reports later in the week, pointing out that she never said she left in response to any particular performance. When Mandisa’s two Grammy awards were announced this past week the Christian artist wasn’t there to accept them. After fielding a lot of questions from her fan’s asking why, Mandisa released a blog to explain her reasons. She said they included needing time at home with an already packed touring schedule, the frustration of dealing with the scrutinization of others, and the lack of wins in previous Grammy appearances. But Mandisa adds that her fourth reason for not appearing was her struggle with being in the world, but not of it. What happens when it snows in Atlanta? At last report Mac Powell had been in his van for seven hours and was still three miles from home. The Third Day front man was taking his kids home from school, a drive that normally takes 15 minutes. Mac said he tried four different side roads only to wind up at the same light six hours later. He tweeted that they might have to sleep in the van tonight.

Jimmy Needham says April will be a big month. He announced plans for a tour through asia, with stops in Hong Kong, Malaysia, The Philippines, Singapore, China and Australia. And to make it even better, Jimmy said his family will be able to join him on the tour.

Tai Anderson recently announced the secret to Third Day’s success and unity. Legendary Christian singer Carmanposted an emergency update on his facebook page over the weekend. He announced that he has an infection that has rendered him unable to move. And Carman added: for the first time though this whole journey I’m worried – really worried. Carman is currently receiving cancer treatment and says his immune system is completely gone. A thought from Aaron Branch of Building 429: If the world could only see the reality of what Christ has to offer it would change everything. I pray everyday that His love would show through me. Jimmy Needham’s drummer has a unique side job. In addition to touring with Jimmy, he also builds drums. But to make it more unique, the drum heads are made of leather.

The Sidewalk Prophets provided a bus update over the weekend. They say Bubba the bus hobbled back into Nashville late last week. The bus immediately went back into the shop for a few additional repairs and than the guys headed out for Miami. Meanwhile, the Sidewalk Prophets say about $1,000 of the $17,000 cost of the repairs has been covered by their fans. Jenny Simmons has released what she is calling one of her most important blogs in a long time. The blog encourages her readers to choose life through Christ and then give life to others rather than focusing on gloom and doom. Jenny says that, no matter what happens, Jesus is still in charge. Amy Grant was in Los Angeles this weekend for an event raising funds for the MusiCares organization. MusiCares provides a place for musicians to turn in times of financial, personal, or medical crisis and Amy says over 5-million-dollars were were raised for the organization at this weekend’s event.

The members of Shane and Shane say they really like living in the country. They tweeted: What’s awesome about living out in the country is running across weird bugs & animals. It’s kind of like camping… 100% of the time.

Jamie Grace recently talked about being nervous when going on stage. And she said that, although she has played on some big stages, she still gets nervous. And Jamie says that’s a good thing. She said: I just want to remember that what I am about to do is not possible on my own. Jamie added: I always want to walk on stage thinking, “Lord, please use this for Your glory, if you don’t show up there’s no way this can work out. The year Mandisa decided to stay home from the Grammys was the year she won big. Mandisa said she chose to watch the Grammys online from home this year rather than traveling to California. And she had a lot to watch. Mandisa came away Sunday with two of the three grammys in the Contemporary Christian Music category, winning best song for her song Overcomer and best album for her latest project by the same name.

Kutless member Nick Departee is in Nashville for a Worship Together writer retreat. He says the goal is to spend a few days crafting new songs for the church.

Casting Crowns was doing a different type of concert over the weekend. They held a secret show in Dallas, announcing the venue just before the show took place. Attendance was limited to the first 100 people. And Casting Crowns members say the first person to arrive was so eager to get there that he showed up to wait outside the building in short pants. A second show was also scheduled but, due to bad weather, had to be canceled

The Winter Jam tour was living up to its name over the weekend. Newboys drummer Duncan Phillips tweeted a picture of their bus covered with snow during their stop in Grand Rapids.

The Road Show was in Texas over the weekend but the weather was still causing problems. Third Day’s Mac Powell said they decided to stop at the side of the road until morning due to bad conditions. He said that, even when morning arrived, they were only able to inch alone as they made their way toward their venue in Dallas.

The Afters played their first show of the year over the weekend. And they were greeted with a packed house in Charlotte, North Carolina. The members of the tweeted: It’s a great start to a great year!

Francesca Battistelli was back on the road for her first concert since Christmas and bronchitis. She tweeted: My voice is not what it should be, but I’m going to do my best.

Love and the Outcome says they have a concert routine each night before they go on stage. They said: We pray as we walk to the stage every night…believing God can use our small offering and multiply it.

How dedicated do you have to be to sing with Michael W Smith at the Kennedy Center? Michael W. Smith said the choir that will be joining him rehearsed for more than 7 hours on Saturday. He called them the Hardest Working Choir Ever.

Colton Dixon was singing backup this weekend. After his own set at Winterjam on Saturday he stepped in to backup Lecrae during their segment of the show. Colton tweeted: “Such an honor to share the stage.”

It was an emotional homecoming for Casting Crowns bass player Chris Huffman this week. The band did a CD release show at Chris’ home church and Chris says he really choked up on a few songs. Not only was it his home church, it was also one of Chris’ first concerts back with the band. He’d taken an extended break from touring with Casting Crowns while his son Silas was in the hospital waiting for a heart transplant.

The Afters received some national exposure this week. Their song Moments Like This was featured on this weeks broadcast of the program American Idol.

Despite lead singer Jon Foreman’s surfing injury the day before the release of their new album, Switchfoot has plenty to be happy about. Fading West debuted at number 6 on this week’s Billboard Top 200 chart, came in at #2 on the Rock Album chart, and hit #1 on the overall Christian and Gospel charts.

Matt Maher was part of a March for Life pre-rally event on the National Mall in Washington DC on the anniversary of Roe v Wade. Matt says it was a very cold day. He posted several pictures of his snowy view from the balcony of the Russell Senate building. In fact, Matt tweeted: my guitar was so cold, it felt like I was strumming a frozen dead goat. But Matt thanked everyone who braved the cold and came out for the concert prior to the March for Life

TobyMac recently had the chance to take a break from touring thanks to Andrew Palau, son of evangelist Luis Palau. Tobymac spent two days on Mount Hood in Oregon. He got in some skiing and some down time as well.

At least one restaurant was prepared when Big Daddy Weave rolled into town. Front man Mike Weaver tweeted a picture taken in front of a Checkers restaurant. The sign board on the restaurant features a Big Daddy Double Chicken Sandwich.

Michael W Smith will be able to cross another item off his bucket list after this weekend. He’s scheduled to play at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. And he says playing a concert in that venue has always been on his bucket list.

Paul Baloche is gearing up for next weekends worship leaders conference in the middle of the country. The conference will be held in Lincoln, Nebraska January 31 and February 1. The Fox affiliate in Atlanta recently ran an updated story on baby Silas, the son of Casting Crowns bass player Chris Huffman. Silas, who is just 8 months old, had a heart transplant in late 2013. And doctors say they now know that the original heart problem was caused by a genetic mutation. Work on Aaron Shust’s Christmas CD got underway this week. Aaron tweeted that the band tracking had begun. But you’ll have to wait until late this year to hear the Christmas project from Aaron.

Changes are being made in connect with the new CD and tour featuring David Crowder. The band Crowder announced this week that, due to unavoidable circumstances, the Neon Steeple albums release has been delayed until May 27. And the spring dates for the tour have been rescheduled for October and November.

Jamie Grace tweeted this week that she was diagnosed with ADHD 11 years ago. But she added that she didn’t think it was that obvious. Her discussion about ADHD came right after she sent several other tweets. They went something like this: You’re flying delta… peanuts or pretzels? Do yall eat those delta cookies? I cannot. Did you know that if you eat Delta peanuts and drink a ginger ale it’ll taste like a pb&j? How many gummy bears can you personally consume before you feel like it’s the end? My limit Is five.

The guys in Kutless are angling for a free trip to the Super Bowl. Flight attendants at Shanghai airport recently caught Britt Nicole’s attention. Britt tweeted a video of a group of flight attendants performing a flash mob dance to her song All This Time. The Christian music web site New Release Tuesday recently talked with Josh Calhoun about the Citizenway song How Sweet the Sound. Josh says he started writing the song a couple of years ago when going through a period of his life when he couldn’t talk anymore. A cyst on his vocal chords had to be removed but doctors said there was a possibility that he wouldn’t be able to sing anymore after the surgery. Josh said it was a scary thought until God reminded him that God could use him whether he could sing or not. Josh said it was at that point that he really learned to trust in God. The members of the Sidewalk Prophets are asking for your help in getting Bubba, their touring bus, back up and running. After two years of nearly problem free driving, the bus experienced a major breakdown this past weekend. In fact, band members say it will cost around $17,000 to complete the repairs. Jeff Frankenstein was celebrating the 20th anniversary of his first concert with the Newsboys the week. The keyboard player for the group said he’s done 3,000 shows in 45 counties with the group over the past two decades and he’s just getting warmed up.
